Dr. Zhongwu Guo，美国Wayne State University化学系正教授。1991年在波兰科学院有机化学研究所获得博士学位；从1999年起担任美国Case Western Reserve University大学化学系助理教授，副教授；2005年起在美国Wayne State University化学系担任正教授。郭教授是国际知名糖化学家，其研究工作主要集中在复杂天然产物的全合成，有机合成新方法学研究 (包括化学和生物合成)，复杂寡糖、糖肽及其它糖缀合物的合成，糖生物和糖药物学研究，化学生物学，药物化学，糖免疫学，包括癌症和细菌糖疫苗研发，以及新型生物医学材料的研究等。至今已在J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed， JMC等国际主流期刊发表论文125篇；已获国际专利授权3件。郭教授曾荣获德国洪堡基金会学术研究奖学金，日本政府 RIKEN 特别研究员奖学金，美国 SEARLE 学者提名奖，美国化学会糖化学杰出青年学者奖等各种学术奖项；是美国国立卫生研究院 (NIH)基金特邀评委，中国自然科学基金委以及自然科学基金委生物医学重点项目终审专家；担任国际<糖化学杂志> (Journal of Carbohydrate Chemistry)主编，长期担任Curr. Org. Syn.， Curr. Opin. Chem. Biol.，Biopolymers等国际学术期刊编委，应邀在国际学术会议或国际主流大学作学术报告100多场次；从2000年以来完成或在研美国NIH 项目和NSF项目20多项。
All cell surfaces are covered by a layer of carbohydrates, known as glycocalyx, that plays a pivotal in various biological processes. Our research program aims at developing efficient synthesis for complex glycoconjugates and using them to investigate biological and biomedical problems. In this seminar, discusses will focus on the chemical and chemoenzymatic synthesis of glycosylphosphatidylinositols (GPIs) and GPI-anchored proteins and their biological studies; the other will focus on the development of carbohydrate-based cancer vaccines.
